You've Got A Friend In Me

Last weekend, we had a fun, fun time having Adrian and Elijah over for a couple nights. Darla was on a LONG overdue mommy vacation day, and we were set to allow the boys free reign of our 3 acres in hopes of tired boys and restful nights for all involved.

We succeeded on all fronts! The kids had a blast. Nerf gun wars, Legos, K-Nex, Pool, Ping Pong, Skateboarding, Scootering, etc, etc, etc. Whatever games their little minds made up, they were off and running.

We are so fortunate that our kids get along so well - you can really count on them to keep each other busy. It makes it nice to trade babysitting and sleepovers, and gives both families some much needed adult time every once in awhile.

That kind of friendship - between both the kids and the adults - doesn't happen very often. I'm so thankful that we have that with Darla's family!

Anyway, Saturday, Chance had a football game, so we all loaded up to go watch. Adrian kept Colton entertained, as Colton is never too fond of paying attention to the actual game. They had 55 gallon blue drums that they used to construct forts, battle grounds, and whatever else their imaginations came up with.

Elijah, on the other hand, was watching intently to every down. And, he knew that while Chance was doing a bunch of this:

he was probably getting thirsty!

So, every time-out or break, he was there, helping out his friend.

With either water or an encouraging word. Below, I'm positive that he's patting Chance on the shoulder pads and saying, "Good Job, Buddy!" Because that's what he said EVERY time Chance came out of the game. What a kid!

After the game, when Chance had to run back to the field for his forgotten helmet, his little buddy was right beside him. Sorry Darla - he had it on his head before I could get a word out, so I figured I might as well take a picture! At least I didn't let them share toothbrushes :)

Thanks for a fun weekend, boys!

And, thanks for being such great friends! Adrian, Colton had more fun at that game than any of the others combined. And Elijah, friends like you are hard to come by. You're the best!
